Is being jaded a bad thing?
Well...it can lead to bitterness, resentment, and overall lack of motivation. It is the exact opposite of being eager, fresh, and energized. I would consider that a bad thing, but I’ll let you be the judge!
After graduating from LSU, I taught 6th grade ELA for two years and I can honestly say there were many times when I found myself jaded—completely lacking the enthusiasm needed to teach and shape the minds of our future. Because of this, I had to find ways to remain positive and find the beauty in what I was doing. I had to constantly remind myself of my purpose and train my thoughts to stay elevated and far away from negativity.
NotSoJaded is a blog focusing on the importance of remaining positive and enthusiastic about everything you do. I have always been a writer but I’ve never been comfortable sharing my writing. My goal is to build my confidence while helping others build theirs. My brand is ‘Not So Jaded’ because life comes at you hard and fast, so it’s best to control what you can and accept what you cannot. Disappointments are inevitable but it is up to you to use your past experiences to determine the trajectory of your future. We are no longer dwelling on the past and the “what ifs”. We are not jaded lovers, friends, bosses, employees, etc.
From here on out, each day you wake up you will acknowledge the beauty of the life you live. And if there are too many days when you struggle to find this beauty or it seems that your motivation is nowhere to be found, then you know it is time to make a change for yourself.
“It's not the situation that's causing your stress, it's your thoughts, and you can change that right here and now. You can choose to be peaceful right here and now. Peace is a choice, and it has nothing to do with what other people do or think."
