Life is hard enough. Believe in Yourself. Make yourself a Priority.
I want to share 3 things that I have trained myself to live by.
A little backstory:
One of my cousins is a hard-working entrepreneur & full-time doctorate student (S/o to Zee)! She asked me to speak at the one-year anniversary dinner for her business. So, of course I wanted to speak positivity into her and the guests. This can be applied to starting your own business, seeking a career change, or just life in general. Here's what I wrote:
1. The Importance of Being Your Own Biggest Fan:
- Being your own biggest fan is critical because no one knows you better than you know yourself.
- You know your heart. You know your intentions. You know your strengths and weaknesses.
- You know what you're capable of and you know exactly when you need to throw in the towel if something is no longer serving its purpose in your life.
- You save yourself from so much heartache, disappointments, regrets, feeling inadequate or anything that can tarnish your sense of self-worth when you place your happiness and peace in your own hands.
- No one is going to cheer louder for your wins or cry harder for your losses than you, so don't give anyone else the power to make decisions when it comes to what you want to pursue in life.
2. The Importance of Promoting Yourself Even if You Feel Like No One is Watching:
- The power of social media & networking is immeasurable; you literally never know who's listening and watching. You never know who's your next potential client or investor.
- The amount of likes, followers, or views does not determine the quality of your services or content.
- There are lots of social media influencers and marketing strategists who talk about how follower count does not equate to success so never compare yourself to someone who has more than you.
- Contrary to what we all believe, you do not need millions of followers to reach the right audience or to even make money from social media.
- Stay patient, consistent, and true to your work and you will always reap the benefits of what you sow.
3. The Importance of Trusting God and the Process:
- "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
- What is for you, no one can take that away. Always trust the process.
- Some of the most successful people in the world did not reach their status until they were older and after they failed many times; they didn't gain their success overnight.
- Whatever you're doing right now, or plan to do in the future, always make sure your heart is in the right place and please understand that your idea of success should not be a destination but more of a never-ending journey with unforeseeable ups and downs.
- As long as you are happy, healthy, & living to see each day, you are winning in life.
- "Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act." Psalm 37:4-5
“People tell you the world looks a certain way. Parents tell you how to think. Schools tell you how to think. TV. Religion. And then at a certain point, if you’re lucky, you realize you can make up your own mind. Nobody sets the rules but you. You can design your own life.”
this was very motivating, thank you!
